Help Kids Appreciate Money With FamilyMint.com

I wrote a guest post on CashMoneyLife.com this week about a free online financial software for kids called FamilyMint.com. But don’t get it confused with Mint.com, because they’re not affiliated in any way and are completely separate programs.

FamilyMint.com is a very cool financial tracking software that allows parents and kids to interface around money in a way that simply wasn’t possible before. Their tag line is “Helping Kids Appreciate Money.”

FamilyMint.com is a perfect way for children ages 6 to 16 to create financial goals, track their savings, transfer money between accounts, and to actually get excited about saving money. Parents get involved because they become the bank by taking their kids deposits, handing them their withdrawals, and approving or denying their kids’ financial decisions. The Premium program can automate transactions, like regular allowance deposits, matching contributions for savings, and paying interest to encourage saving over spending.
